Editorial Sessions

A session type designed with editorial teams in mind

Introducing Editorial Sessions in ClearView Flex, the first in a new series of workflow specific session types. Editorial sessions bring key features like integrated video conferencing in a way that ensures the performance and reliability users have come to expect, in an experience that matches their workflow.

Enable Session Type

Session types are enabled in the admin portal. Select the 3-dot menu on the top right of the screen to access the admin portal. In the Session Settings, a list of session types will be displayed for admins to enable as needed. Please be sure to click save changes after enabling a new session type.

Allow Microphone and Camera Access

For your first editorial session a popup will appear asking you to enable the microphone and camera in the browser, please allow access. This is a one time request for both presenters and viewers when joining an editorial session from a browser.

Starting an Editorial Session

Invite up to 5 viewers to join an Editorial Session, including the presenter this will allow 6 users to collaborate in Flex. Presenters have access to the main setup window as well as the toggle view. Toggle view allows presenters to seamlessly switch between chat mode and setup mode.

Chat Mode

In chat mode, presenters have access to video thumbnails to easily communicate with viewers in a session. Please note the system’s default camera and microphone may be selected when starting your first session. You can adjust both items as needed by selecting the up arrow next to the respective icons.

Viewer Application

Viewers joining the session will have gallery mode as their default setting so they can watch the main video stream and collaborate with others all on one screen. A full screen option will be coming to editorial sessions in the near future.

Viewing Modes - participants have access to three viewing modes:

  • Participant mode
- Displays a gallery of session participants. Each participant is represented by a thumbnail tile regardless of whether their camera is on. Active Speaker is highlighted in teal.

  • Content mode
- Displays only the shared high-quality video content (the “content stream”), optimised for remote review.

  • Participant + Content mode
 - Displays both participants and content in a stacked layout, with the participant gallery above the main content player.
