Updating Package Access after Upload

How to edit a package's recipients and help users find their packages

Updated today

Adding additional recipients to a package

Once a package has been successfully uploaded in FileRunner, the sender has the ability to add additional recipients to the package. Find the package in your Sent items and click the “Add recipients” button top right. This will bring up a form allowing you to add new users without having to re-upload content. You may add PIn verification and a new message for just these newly added users without affecting previously added users. For a detailed walkthrough on adding recipients to a package, please refer to Adding Recipients to a Package

Please note that newly added recipients will have the remainder of the access period to download the package. If the package was secured with PIN verification, you will need to add a valid mobile phone number for any new recipients.

Remove access from a package

As the sender, you can easily remove a recipient's access to the package by clicking on the gray 'x' icon located to the right of the recipient's email address. A popup will appear for you to confirm removing access to that recipient.

Recipient's who have had their access removed from a package will no longer be able to download the package. For unverified users that means the links sent to their email address will no longer be active. For verified users, the link will also not work and the package will be grayed out in their Inbox signifying the package has expired.

Extending Access Period

FileRunner Pro contract users can extend expiring packages by an additional 3 days. Please note that the “Extend” option will only become visible within the last 12 hours of the access period. If the access period expires, the sender won’t be able to extend the package access any longer.

If you are a FileRunner Pro user and cannot see this feature, please check with your administrator to ensure this is enabled in the Project Settings. They will need to get in contact with our technical support to enable or disable this feature.

Forwarding download URLs for unverified users

Lastly, as the sender you can forward the download link for packages sent to unverified users. If for any reason, an unverified user was not able to get the initial download link through email, you can forward the link to them. To do this simply click on the blue link icon located to the right of the unverified user’s email address. A popup will appear allowing you to copy just the link or copy full text.

Please note, this feature is only available for packages sent to unverified users. Download notifications for verified users are purely informational as download links are not needed in order for verified users to download their packages.
