Configuring the DeckLink 8K Pro
To configure the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro card to operate as four independent single-link input/output channels, follow the steps below using the Desktop Video Setup application:
Open the Desktop Video Setup application.
Select the first device in the list representing the DeckLink 8K Pro card.
Navigate to: Connectors > Connector Mapping
Under Connector, select "SDI 1 In or Out."
This setting reconfigures all four SDI ports (SDI 1 through SDI 4) to function as four independent single-link SDI channels.
Each port can now be used individually for either input or output.
To restore the quad-link configuration, return to the same menu and change the setting back to "SDI 1 to 4 In or Out."
This will re-enable the card's ability to function as a single quad-link SDI connection for high-resolution workflows, such as 8K capture or playback.
Important Note:
If this configuration is not changed and the card remains in quad-link mode ("SDI 1 to 4 In or Out"), it may still appear to function correctly. However, in this state, the same output signal will be mirrored across both SDI ports.
Always ensure the correct connector mapping is selected for your intended workflow.
Resolve Project Settings
1. Enable Dual SDI Outputs in DaVinci Resolve
Go to Project Settings
Navigate to Master Settings > Video Monitoring
Under Video Format, enable: "Use dual outputs on SDI"
This setting enables Resolve to send separate output streams (typically HDR and SDR) over different SDI ports.
2. Enable Dolby Vision and Complete Analysis
In Project Settings, go to: Color Management > Dolby Vision
Enable the checkbox: "Enable Dolby Vision"
Return to the Color workspace.
Set the SDR target display output as required.
Analyze the clip or entire timeline for Dolby Vision metadata:
Right-click the clip or timeline > Analyze All (if not already analyzed)
After configuration and analysis are complete, SDR and HDR video outputs will be routed as follows:
SDI Port 1 β HDR Output
SDI Port 3 β SDR Output
These outputs are recognized and handled properly by Flex and Pivot.
