Using Resilio and FileRunner together
Resilio and FileRunner are a great combination because they solve two different file-sharing challenges.
Resilio makes it easy for your internal team to stay connected to the same files, whether everyone is in the same office, working from home, or spread across the globe. Files stay synchronized between trusted locations and users without relying on traditional file transfer workflows.
But sometimes those files need to leave your internal environment.
Maybe you need to send assets to a vendor, freelance editor, artist, localization partner, or client. In those cases, you probably don't want to give external users access to your Resilio environment or internal storage.
That's where FileRunner comes in.
FileRunner gives you a simple way to send and receive files with people outside your organization. Use Resilio to keep your team synchronized internally, then use FileRunner whenever you need to securely deliver files to external partners or receive files back from them.
Together, they provide a straightforward workflow:
Resilio keeps your internal teams synchronized.
FileRunner handles external deliveries and submissions.
Nobody needs access to systems they shouldn't have access to.
Files get where they need to go quickly and securely.
If you have both Resilio Anywhere and a FileRunner license, here’s a few examples how you can utilize both to safely and quickly get your assets to or from anyone who may need them.
Sync and Send
You have a Resilio agent running a synchronization job that is syncing a folder to a Data I/O machine, but you need to send some of those assets to a third party that is not part of your Resilio environment.
With FileRunner, simply open a web browser, log in to your FileRunner account, and create a package (a collection of files and folders). You can either browse to the synchronized files on the Data I/O machine or drag and drop them directly into FileRunner.
When creating the package, enter the recipient email address(es). Once the upload completes, FileRunner automatically sends the recipient a download link by email. The recipient can download the files without requiring access to your Resilio environment or internal storage systems.
Receive and Sync
You are receiving assets from vendors or clients who are not connected to your Resilio environment, but multiple internal users need access to those files as soon as they arrive.
FileRunner includes an Auto Downloader application for macOS. The Auto Downloader is linked to a specific FileRunner user account through an API key and can automatically download incoming packages to a designated watch folder.
If that watch folder is also configured as a Resilio synchronized folder, any files received through FileRunner will automatically be distributed to all participating Resilio agents. This creates a seamless workflow where external users deliver files through FileRunner and internal users receive them through Resilio without any manual intervention.
Custom Build
For advanced users who want to create fully automated workflows, both platforms provide developer tools, Sohonet can provide access to:
